Feb 10th: They're sending us to a different job tomorrow. It's a little closer to civilization. I hope the camp is nice. Feb 9th: Kill Bill v.1 last night, Kill Bill v.2 tonigt. I made $110.77/h today, but I only worked for 3 and a quarter hours. Feb 8th: Well here I am in Northern Alberta. The internet is really shitty here in camp, but I can manage to read my email and check forums. There's really not much more to talk about because all you do here is work, eat, sleep, and repeat. There are 9 other rigs here, and we're going too fast. We're catching up to the "slashers" that clear the lines in front of us. Long story short we're being limited to only doing 80-100 holes a day. The holes are 6 meters and I get paid $0.75 per meter, so I'm still making good money, but my days are over early. Today we were done at 2:30pm, so we watch TV and movies in camp. Last night we watched Fanboys. Supper is at 6-8 and it has been good so far. Some camps have shitty food, but this one doesn't. The only problems in this camp are that the heat cuts out overnight and it's always cold in the morning, and the showers run out of hot water pretty quickly. Anyone who knows what work camps are like will know that these types of problems are common in any camp. They're really hit and miss. I'm really surprised there's internet here though. There's also satellite TV in our rooms, so all in all I'm happy at this camp. I haven't been able to get online until now because I haven't been able to get into my dad's laptop. He forgot his password so I had to borrow someone else's and track down a bootable program for my flash drive that kinda hacked the registry and removed the password on his account. Feb 2nd: Well, I'm off to the rigs tomorrow. I was pleased to talk to Kim on IRC tonight. It sucks that I have to leave so soon. I could have really used 1 more day. I don't know if I will have internet or not when I get to where I'm going. Here's to hoping. Someone please remove Rba's gline. If you really want to get ahold of me talk to Micksam7[@gmail.com]. Jan 28th: In Canada when you start working for someone there is a 3 month "probationary" period where your employer can terminate your employment for any (or no) reason. I was fired from my electrician job yesterday for a bullshit reason, one day before I would have worked there for 3 months. I'm going back on the rigs within a week. Jan 25th: The snowstorm has been so bad here the last couple days.. Finally let up today. There are 6 foot drifts in the streets and 2 feet of snow everywhere. I managed to get to work this morning but was sent home.. I think I will probably have to work tomorrow though because alot of the snow got cleared today. Crazy stuff! Didn't manage to get my computer back today. They're done it- but on the phone they told me they were open until 6 and I went there at 5:30 and they were closed.. lame. Excited to work though because I need money and I also have some new tools that I haven't used yet. :o Jan 23rd: Last night I bought some new RAM for my computer. I fucked up installing it. Now I need to spend $400 to fix my computer. On the bright side I will have a better video card (HDM1 Out, 4x the memory) so WoW should play alot smoother. I'm using my backup computer right now and it kinda sucks. I bought some new tools for work today.. but I'm so close to being out of money at the moment it's not even funny. I'm going to sit down and do a real budget for myself tonight.. Sigh.. I really enjoyed sleeping in today. Drinking tonight so I'll probably sleep in tomorrow too. Been working on www.prowlersguild.com, my guild's website. Going to install a forum on it tomorrow I think.. Hopefully I can get a DB backup from the webmaster who ran it before me. I had an appointment for 4:20pm with my doctor today and had to wait until 5:15 to see him. I've been playing hockey at the park with my friends after work and having a hell of a time. Now that I'm getting better at skating I can start to focus on actually moving the puck around decently. Lots of fun, good workout- win win... 11:37pm I'm all set to go to bed. Flash, Java, Filezilla, iTunes, iPod. Also downloaded MS Security Essentials. For some reason though I can't upgrade from IE7 to IE8. Ugh.. Drinking spiced rum tonight!
